Anchored in salvation and lit by rueful intelligence, The Last Morning is home for the lost folks who want to lay down their weary heads. Most times she opts for a simple nursery and folk lullaby over a showy, complicated riff so as to let her spiritual messages, such as Beth and Doorkeeper, shine brilliantly through.

She imbibed the best of English/Celtic revival folk. Her assured phrasing recalls, for instance, that of Brit heroine Kate Rusby, calming and lucid in the loveliest track here, Harvest.

Still, one does wish Fung, talented as she is, would venture out and have a bit of fun like her other influence, American Sufjan Stevens, and get her guitarlele - a guitar-ukelele hybrid - to do more than strum sweetly."
